Shabnam Yousefian is an Iranian-born painter based in California. She began drawing and painting at the age of seven and pursued oil painting professionally from the age of sixteen. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Azad University in Tehran, she continued to develop her artistic practice.
In 2008, she immigrated to the United States and later earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University in 2016.
Her early work focused on realism and the female figure. Over time, her practice evolved beyond strict representation toward a more intuitive and personal visual language. Today, her paintings explore the tension between control and freedom, finding beauty in imperfection, overlooked details, and the traces of life found in everyday subjects.
